This modern house was built according to "nearly zero-energy building standards" in 2008. The house is equipped with a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery. Room heating is achieved through a geothermal heat pump and domestic hot water is prepared with an air source heat pump. Rain water is collected and used not only to water the garden but also to supply the toilet system. When household appliances were purchased, particular attention was put on their energy requirements. LED-technology and energy-saving lamps were used for all interior lighting.

This two-storey, 4-person home was built in 2005 according to passive house standards. Living quarters were explicitly given a south-facing orientation. The building is heated with a pellet stove and is equipped with a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery. In addition, a 15 m2 façade integrated solar thermal system is installed on the building’s south façade.

This single-family home, which was refurbished in 2003, is heated with a pellet boiler. The building’s most distinctive feature is its “round” solar collector as balcony railing (24 m2 façade collectors). In addition, the house is equipped with 12 m2 of solar thermal collectors, a 3 kWp photovoltaic installation and a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery.

Public building (vocational school) in Linz, New build and refurbishment (2010), Energy performance indicator (heat demand indicator): 21 kWh/m² a

The refurbishment and extension work on the vocational school in Linz (300 students, 250-bed boarding section) was completed in 2010. The 19,300 m2 building’s heating is ensured through district heating. In addition, the school is equipped with 50 m² of façade integrated solar thermal collectors and a 3 kWp photovoltaic system. During refurbishment activities, the building’s thermal insulation was improved; a ventilation system and acoustic ceilings were installed in the classrooms and the lighting system was upgraded. Owing to these improvements, the school now fulfils high energy standards.

The Energiewerkstatt’s newly constructed "plus-energy-office building" in Munderfing was recently inaugurated (which is an annex to their existing building) and now offers space for 35 employees. Particular attention was paid to the origin of the construction materials; local resources were prioritised. Heating is ensured with a pellet boiler. The 920 m2 building is also equipped with 22 m2 of solar thermal collectors, 15 kWp photovoltaic installation with storage battery system and a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery. The optimal use of day lighting combined with LED-technology was chosen to fulfil the lighting needs.
